Dark-Light

Evie climbs into the bathtub whenever one of the big kids is taking a bath...there's no stopping her once she finds them!
Dairy Discover Camp!  Oh boy, this will go down as a sure favorite for Carson this summer.   Carson went to a real dairy farm for a 3 day camp.  He got partnered up with his buddy Wade from school so that was an extra bonus.  They got to take care of their own calf for the week.  They named him "Dark-Light" (because he's dark AND light of course).  They had to give him baths, feed him, clean his stall (ew), and even walk him.  That's right people, I paid the farm to have Carson WORK on the farm.  Hilarious.  It was the coolest experience for him though.  It was right up his alley and I'm grateful he had the opportunity to participate.

It was a 25 minute hike out into farm land from our house so Grandpa was so kind as to take him one day, and of course he got roped into this!
On the last day the kids did an actual calf show and some judges asked them questions about their calf.  What a fun camp! Carson was quite sad to leave his little calf buddy behind.  He will be back for sure...Laney, maybe not. She had to cover her nose whenever we got out of the car on the farm.

While Carson was at camp Laney and I rode our bikes to the Farmers Market again.  Evie walks around like she owns the place, even got herself a cookie.
Everson has found her new favorite place, Meijer Gardens!

Evie was so free to rome all around she was just so happy!  She even made it up the big hill with Grandpa and the big kids.

High five Nana!
Another trip to Uncle Tom's and Aunt Dawn's cottage = another day of FUN!

Evie got to ride on the boat this time and jump in the lake!  She loved it, until she didn't :-)  She swam for a bit and then preferred to just chill out on the boat and watch.

Laney had the net ready as she hung off the dock for most of the afternoon trying her best to catch a fish, and then, it happened!  This girl was BESIDE herself that she caught that fish!  She couldn't wait to boast to Uncle Tom.

Uncle Jeff moved some of Nana's furniture up into her new apartment so we got to have a quick visit!  The kids were quick to start wrestling him.

Laney has a routine of walking into Grandma's house, asking for fruit snacks, and then sneaking off into the dining room to play on Grandma's ipad and eat her snack.  She always sits in the same place on the floor.  S,o one day Evie saw the ipad on the table and she grabbed it, walked into the dining room by herself, and this is what I saw when I snuck around the corner.  Just like her big sister :-)
4th of July weekend we took the kids to Millenium Park for some more beach time!  There were no waves so Evie had the best time going in and out of the lake for hours.

And Carson and Laney, that's them out in the lake...PLAYING TOGETHER PEOPLE.  Patrick and I watched in complete shock our jaws were in the sand.  They did flips, Carson gave Laney piggy back rides when the water got deep, they raced and swam and splashed and no one told on anyone, what?!?!?

Came home from the beach and had dinner on the deck, bath time, bedtime...my kind of day!
Ice cream!
4th of July is one of our favorite days!  The kids love our Ada parade.  This year Carson and Laney both rode their bikes in it and then raced back to get their candy.

Later that afternoon Laney got to try out her mermaid tale in the pool!  She was a natural but after a few minutes she took it off and said, "Mom, it's hard work being a mermaid".
Everson and her swimming buddy Nathan!

I mean....ahhhh.

Fun filled day ended with fireworks with our neighborhood friends!

How studious does this boy look with glasses?!  He's been telling me for months that one of his eyes was blurry when he looked at things far away and sure enough, he needs glasses.  He will just wear them part time and mostly at school for now. I'm glad he's so happy about them he loves to show everyone who comes to the house.
MVP pool time.
Carson had Evie in a trance with his bubble blowing.

Nana's new apartment here in Grand Rapids...whoo hoo!  We are all so excited to have her here with us!  We had to stop in and pull out all the toys!

Carson has been asking to do a lemonade sale for over a month so I finally gave in.  It's always so fun I don't know why I try to get out of it.  These kids sold like 30 cups in an hour!  Carson was even out delivering cups to peoples doors.
Carson and Laney got to have a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa Brang's last weekend!  They've been asking for one for months so they were super excited.  They got to go to the lake and splash pad all day and drink Sprite at night.  What could be better?
We met up with them for lunch the next day and got to hear all about their fun time.

Auntie and Maeve came to visit last weekend too!
I could just eat these two right up!

Evie has been eyeing Nana for months now, giving her smiles, waves, and most recently, high fives.  Then on Sunday, she just walked right over to her and climbed up into her lap when no one else was looking.  She was just waiting for the right moment :-)
