Pools, Lakes, and Rivers...Summer is HERE!

 Happy Father's Day Patrick!

Last summer I took Laney with me to Camp Henry to pick Carson up from his mini week 3 night camp.  She got to watch the closing ceremony and the video clips from the week and then after seeing Carson hugging me saying he wanted to come for a full week next  year, she was IN!  She told me right then that she wanted to go next year....and next year is finally here.  Laney didn't know anyone at camp so she was nervous as we drove to camp.  I never thought for a moment she'd back out though.  I got her all set up in her bunk bed and then a quick hug good bye!  3 nights later I picked up a very happy, dirty, excited girl!  She couldn't wait to show me around camp and introduce me to her counselors.  She met so many new friends and even ran into a couple girls she knew from past sports teams.  Now she's all in for the full week next year.

I feel so good about this camp.  They have such a good message, such positive attitudes, they just build these kids up and send them home feeling so happy and re-connected.  They have take care of themselves and their things themselves, they try new foods and eat what's offered to them, they get to play outside all day long, team build, play sports, play card games, get bored and figure out something cool to do out of that boredom without turning on any electronics, they learn how to see value in everyone and feel accepted by others, they realize they have more to be thankful for than they realized, and they learn that they are ENOUGH as their dirty, stinky, smiling selves!  We love Camp Henry!
Carson went to camp for the full week this year.  He knew some neighbor girls going to camp at the same time but went on his own again.  He had a BLAST, of course.  He showered twice in 7 days and came home with dirt caked onto his feet.  His favorite part of camp was the cooking outdoors class and paddle boarding.  Again, he came home just so happy and refreshed.  Maybe I should go to Camp Henry by myself?

Evie and Renley just chillin in the driveway.
While Carson was away for the week, Laney had her bff Kate over for lots of girl time and a sleepover.

For how much this girl whined, "No Undee-wada No Undee-wada" ALL year throughout EVERY swim lesson...you can't keep this girls head above water right now!  She loves her new goggles and barely ever comes up for air.  When her swimmies come off, she is actually swimming...ON HER OWN!! It's so exciting!  There's a good video of her showing off her mad skills below.  Swimming lessons paying off!

 Evie the photographer, "Smile guys!".
Beach day with the girls!  We headed off to Holland State Park for miles of white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters.  Ahhhh... Finally warm enough to head to the beach!

We went on a little adventure and found a family of ducks on our walk down to the lighthouse.

Grandma and Grandpa took Laney to see the musical "Footloose" at Calvin College!  Our babysitter was in the play and our dog sitter was the star of the show!  Way to go Jake and Sophie!  Laney is totally star struck when we see them in the neighborhood now.

The Goring's took us out on the river for a night of fun!  Laney and Kate have way too much fun together.

 DANCE PARTY!!!!

 "Can't nobody tell me nothin..."

Laney set up a lemonade stand in our front yard and was having lots of success when Carson joined in and told her about how much more business they could get at entrance to our neighborhood...she they moved on down the street.  They had special surprise customers too, Grandma and Grandpa!

Nighttime swim in Ms. Jodie's pool!  Evie didn't even know there was a pool back there . Mind.  Blown.  Carson thought he was going to come over and push me in...just look at that devilish face.  I don't think so.  I love all this hot weather keep it coming!!!

Evie was using her phone to talk to Grandma one morning...
"No more raspberries jumping on the bed"...
