Forts in the woods, and flooding the next day.
Gymnastics lessons for Evie, brought to you by, LANEY!
There's a snake camouflaged in there. We've been seeing A LOT of snakes on our hikes now.
The rain didn't stop us from going on our family walks. Only made it more fun and more wet.
This park was at Calvin College. You can literally walk to it from my parents house and all this time we had no idea it was there. It was beautiful!
Crossed the creek on this log. They are lucky ducks that no one fell in, it was pretty cold that day!
Hard to see but there's some turtles sun bathing out there.
May was full of fun weather. It rained A LOT, it snowed enough that we could build a snowman, and it was also scorching hot in the 90's. Here we are at Provin Park, our new favorite! There is a 9 mile trail loop around the park, but the best part is there are sand dunes! Who knew we had sand dunes in GR?!
This was such a fun adventure.
Carson, Laney, Elliott, and Ian have been busy making their own garden in a secret spot in the woods by one of our neighbors housing. I cannot even begin to count the endless hours they have spent there, towing the land, weeding, building a stick and stone fence barrier to keep the critters out, and planting seeds. HOURS! It has been so nice to send them there with their friends to be outside and work together on this project. They planted lots of seeds but we got record breaking rainfall the following 3 days soooo.... we shall see what happens.
We had 6 yards of mulch delivered, that's a lot. Good thing I had so many helpers. Patrick was tucked away nice and cool in his basement office just working away at his day job. He conveniently came upstairs as we were just finishing up.
Fire truck salute to the graduates in our neighborhood. Our Forest Hills high school mascot is on top of the truck waving. The kids loved it.
After it rains, the kids go out and collect worms to fish with. Carson finds them, and he calls Laney over to pick them up for him :-)
Evie has been participating in online preschool! She loved having her own time to chat with her classmates and teacher too, just like the big kids.
Food truck shaved ice! We've been having food trucks come right to our neighborhood every week for the past month. I just can't even describe the joy and excitement this has brought to us!
Driveway visit form the Bonofiglio's! This was the BEST day! Getting to sit and chat with my bestie face to face and enjoy her family just filled me UP!
It was such a fun day on the slip n slide, Avett even learned how to ride 2 wheels at our house! Bonus!
When the weather turned warm we took Auntie and Maeve with us to our sand dunes at Provin Park again! This time we could leave the winter hats and coats at home.
Neighborhood hide and seek...found them in the trashcan. Yuck.
Carson had to sum up his school year in 3 words.
Evie invited Maeve to her last zoom meeting. She had to share her favorite book, "Peanut Butter and Cupcake!".
Laney is really into taking selfies lately, like REALLY into it.
The girls keep asking me to take a pic of them when they are sleeping before I go to bed, I have no idea why. They get such a kick out of it.
Carson got his violin right as the quarantine started. He's been wanting to use it so badly but I don't even know where to start with it. Finally, we found a friend who's older brother has been playing the violin since he was 4 years old, and he's AMAZING at it. He got Carson all hooked up and showed him how to hold it and the basic notes. Here Carson is with his buddy Graham, who was also trying to help him out. He's super excited to learn how to play it and will be playing it in the 6th grade orchestra next year.
I had the BEST birthday! I got up early and went for a fun before the kids got up, then Auntie, Uncle Adam, Maeve, and Maren showed up with Chik-Fi-let breakfast for everyone! I haven't had that in SO long. Reminded me of North Carolina. My Dad brought me a big coffee later that morning, and then we had Qdoba bar with my whole family in the driveway for dinner. Oh, and I can't forget the AMAZING cake Patrick and the kids picked up for my favorite bakery. It was the nicest day. Quarantine birthday's really ARE the best!
All three kids did the Covid-19 Ice Bucket Challenge on Facebook. Laney got nominated first and was so excited when she realized what she got to do. She nominated Carson so he was next, and as Evie watched from a distance, she decided she could not and would not be left out. I am really having a hard time getting my videos on this blog post so I had to make links for the videos below. We will see if that works.
