We had a LONG holiday break this year. December 16-January 3rd! Our first weekend off I met my college friends for a sleepover in Lansing, Evie and Laney played in their last basketball games of the year, and Laney had birthday party AND holiday party with her friends!
With so much time off we decided last minute to take a short trip to Chicago for a night. We headed straight for the Aquarium first and my parents actually drove and met us there for the afternoon. We love Shedd Aquarium!
This beluga whale was actually interacting with the kids. It was so cool. Laney spun around and the whale spun around too. It kept turning its head to each kid as they would talk to it.
We said bye to Grandma and Grandpa and headed to our hotel. Lights everywhere! We had so many options but we eventually voted and decided to walk to dinner and then we got a ride to Zoo Lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo. It was so awesome!
After the zoo lights the kids did some late night swimming back at the hotel and we ordered a traditional Chicago deep dish pizza for a late night snack. It really was the BEST day!
The next morning we walked to an Italian Market and got some hot chocolate and had a little photo shoot downtown :-)
Evie is contantly snuggling our pups up and laying on them.
Rosa Parks Circle was closed due to road construction all last winter so we were really excited to get to go this year. Always one of our favorite things to do in GR and we met our friends the Kimura's there this year.
Evie ditched the trainer for the first time and did GREAT! She's so determined.
We FINALLY made our cut out cookies...better late than never! Just in time for Christmas Eve the next day.
That's a wrap on week 1 of our break! Bring on Christmas!
