North Captiva...We Back!

We ventured back to our favorite spot, North Captiva Island, for Spring Break 2024.  Last year we went out west to California as the island was still recovering from the hurricane.  We were so excited to get to go back, and to go again with our FAVORITES, the Bonofiglio's!

After the drive to Detroit, 2 flights, a night in a hotel, and the hour long drive to the dock, we were SO READY to get on that boat and get back to paradise!

Got us a nice BIG golf cart this time!
And straight into the pool :-)  Our house had it's own private pool this year and the kids were in it NON STOP.  Totally worth the upgrade!

Our kids think Chet and Ave are their cousins, why not?
We made it!

The first morning we got up and it was Evie's 8th birthday!!!  We had a surprise banner up and Amanda and Joe graciously helped blow up balloons and even brought presents.  We had our annual donut breakfast just like we do at home.  What a way to spend your birthday!  After donuts Evie wanted to get right to our manatee viewing spot and sure enough, they were there to say Happy Birthday Evie!

Amanda MADE the Birthday Vibes Only shirt for Evie.  So crafty!

Another special treat for Evie's birthday, the Morin's came to the island for the day!  We also knew a couple other families on the island this year.  Birthday drinks for all the kids for Evie's special day!

Reunited and it feels so GOOOOOOD!  Summer and Sugar :-)

Never, ever, enough time with these gems.

Evie and I kayaked out to our manatee spot with Laney and Ellie following behind us. Evie is always up for a kayak ride.

We saw manatee every single time we went to this spot.  It is truly the most amazing thing to be able to watch these gentle giants in their habitat.  It's my favorite part, every time.

Face mask!
Carson and Luke took the golf cart out for a night ride and they came back with some wild tale of spotting a bobcat on the trails.  They are on the island and we didn't believe them at first, but they were pretty convincing and detailed in their account- so maybe they really did have an encounter! It was incredibly entertaining either way.

Oh my heart- glad I caught that hand hold on camera!  Doesn't happen often!

The kids loved giving spa treatments to the adults in the sand.  Yes, please!

Love this lady- knew I loved her the day I met her 25 years ago and I hold on tight.  Nothing better than a true friend.  There was one day the dads took the kids back to the house to jump in the pool and Amanda and I stayed on that beach with our old school music and a mini cooler...it was my FAVORITE day and I won't forget it.  Saw some dolphins and went home a little sunburned with a full full heart.

Dinner at Over the Water for the first time.  It was AMAZING!

Easter Sunday we ventured to the island's sunrise service on the beach.  God really is EVERYWHERE.  It was a unique Easter Sunday, so beautiful.

Carson and his friend Nathan were kayaking and these manatee came right up to them and were eating algae off their kayaks!  It was actually making Carson nervous he might get flipped!  So cool.  This was definitely a highlight for him.

If you ask Evie what her favorite part of our trip was, she will tell you it was when her Dad let her drive the golf cart.

I spy a dolphin out there ❤

1, 2, 3 GO!

Carson really lucked out because this year two of his best friends and their families decided to try North Captiva out as well!  He got to hang out with Carson Gregor and Graham all week!  We saw a lot of the Goles and the Gregor's throughout the week.

Two kissing babies for our last day...so sweet.

North Captiva just gets better and better with time.  Always something a little different and yet really just the same.  Our house this year was amazing, and getting to share it with the Bonofiglio Family again was such a treat!  It's never enough time.  These memories are definitely my happy place!
