Our annual gingerbread houses were a hit! The Gregors joined us and Evie really got into it this year :-) All this candy is right up Laney's alley.
Merry Christmas 2019! Snapped this among the chaos of getting out the door to our church Christmas Program...running late...everyone yelling...shoes missing...and I threw them all out on the deck and wound up getting them to look decent and innocent for about 3 seconds. Merry Christmas is right!
This is Carson's last year in our Sunday School Christmas Program. He chose to be of the Wisemen and was certain he had THE best costume. Laney sung her heart out and Evie was supposed to be up there singing too now that she's in preschool, but right as the kids were getting ready enter the sanctuary she started acting sick and saying her belly hurt. I was afraid of what might happen up there so Patrick actually ran her back home. She went straight to bed and we thought she was for sure sick, but she woke up feeling fine! Maybe it was nerves? I swear she wasn't herself for days after that so maybe she was fighting something. But the good news is that it wasn't bad and we all stayed healthy all throughout Christmas!
Sick? Not sick? Loving all the extra attention for sure.
Meijer Garden Santa visit time!!!
The month of December is SO busy. I don't think there was one day that wasn't filled up on our calendar. We did however make time to volunteer at the Kids Food Basket one night. Carson, Laney, and I spent a couple hours opening and distributing boxes of Go-gurts and then putting 2 slices of bologna into sandwich baggies. We had fun and we felt like we got a lot accomplished, and yet there was SO much more to do! The kids and I really want to make this mission a bigger priority in the coming months. Life it busy, but there's always time to help others.
This is Evie at her Christmas Sing Along at school. She sang and participated, but she looked at the floor the entire time. This was the week when I swear she just wasn't quite herself...she still looked so cute up there!
School Holiday Party with Laney's class!
The first day of our Christmas break we headed off to Midland to celebrate with the Brang side of the family. It was such a fun day! The kids went CRAZY over all the generous gifts and they just count down the days to when they get to see their cousins.
Nicky wasn't able to come over to Aunt Beth's house with all the kids this year, but we did get to sneak off and say hello to our little buddy. Highlight of the day!

Laney had a fun play date at Kate's house.
4 / 5 of us are skiing!! We FINALLY got Patrick hooked. We went to Cannonsburg on a 50 degree day and Patrick spent 3 hours on the bunny hill. He was feeling pretty confident by the end of the day! We had so much fun and we can't wait to get back out there again. Patrick went and bought skiis the same week so he's seriously IN. Now we just need to get Evie out there...
Our neighbor Jake was in ANOTHER musical! This time it was Frozen Jr. and it was AMAZING! I cried ugly tears when Elsa sang "Let it Go". I mean that girl could challenge Idina Menzel! I was blown away.
We had to go to the Ada covered bridge to see the lights one night!
Finally Christmas Eve! Our tradion: Lunch at Founders, then church, then Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner and presents! It's the best day!
Evie LOVES ordering lemonade at Founders. She had been talking about it for days. When we got there our waiter told her they ran out of lemonade. It was pretty sad. She shed some tears and although she had to just get over it, I know she was really disappointed. So when our waiter showed up 10 minutes later with lemonade from a different bar, we all cheered and Evie was ALL smiles!
We had a few minutes to kill between lunch and church so we hung out and played darts upstairs by Patrick's office just the 5 of us. Found some candy up there too.
The kids favorite part of Christmas Eve Service is the candle lighting for "Silent Night" at the end. Patrick was in charge of Evie's candle and he was way more calm than I would have been sitting next to her holding fire.
We ran home in between church and going to Grandma's to let the dog out and grab our presents...it took Evie about 3 minutes to pass out on the couch.
Laney had her artwork put on coffee mugs for Aunt Sarah and Uncle Blake, and also Grandma and Grandpa.
There wasn't much sleep happening on Christmas Eve, but there was still a lot of energy in the morning!
After we opened presents and had breakfast, we all went out for a family walk down the Grand River Nature Preserve behind our neighborhood. It was the nicest afternoon. That night, Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie, Uncle Adam, Maeve, and Mr. and Mrs. Geyer (Uncle Adam's parents) all came over for dinner. It was a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!
