Pittsburgh-Maryland: First Trip of Summer!

The day after school let out, we packed our car and headed to Maryland for cousin Gunnar's wedding!  We decided last minute to stay the night in Pittsburgh on the way just to explore a new city we had never been to.  We didn't have high expectations, but wow, were we pleasantly surprised.  Pittsburgh is AMAZING!

Hotel pool time!

We walked about a mile from our hotel to Southern Tier Brewing for dinner.  We walked downtown, through a park, over the river, and right by the baseball and football stadiums.  Pittsburgh was BEAUTIFUL.  Who knew?!

This was the view from our hotel room.  Again, so breathtaking.  I remember the kids being so enamored as they looked out our downtown Chicago hotel room several years ago.  They were just as excited on this trip.  We love taking the opportunity to get our kids out of our Ada/Grand Rapids bubble to experience new places.  It's good for all of us!

Morning coffee and another walk around the city.  Laney was amazed by all the pigeons everywhere.

Off to Maryland!  Look who's taller than his Great Uncle Jeff!!  Wowza!

The day of the wedding we got to hang at the pool and a park with my cousins and extended family.  I love getting to see them all!

Wedding time!  My cousin Gunnar married the sweetest, kindest, most beautiful girl, Lacy.  He hit the jackpot for sure!

Chicken Dance!  They still do that?!

Did we dance?  Oh we did.  We left that night with full hearts and sore feet.  It was short and sweet but oh so fun.  A great way to start off summer vaca!
