Cherry Picking and the Dessert Game

 Cousin selfie :-)
Here's the long story, short version.  Shelly was in Michigan all the way from Italy so we just had to see her in person.  This chance doesn't come along often! Kate, Amanda, and I planned to meet her up in Cadillac for breakfast on Saturday morning.  As luck would have it, Courtney was already up in Traverse City with her family so she was able to make it too!  Court invites the whole family up to Traverse for the day, so I rode up to Cadillac with Kate and Svids, while Patrick got the kids packed up and in the van to head up to Traverse on his own.  I was going to just ride back up with Courtney and meet them after breakfast.  Well, right as Patrick and the kids were approaching the Cadillac area, a storm of all storms popped up.  It was dark, black, loud, and a bit scary!  The forecast for the whole day completely changed in minutes.  People in the restaurant were running to their cars and literally fleeing as fast as they could. Patrick just got off the exit I was at, picked me up after my breakfast, and we had to break it to the kids that we had to head back home because of the weather.  To say they were disappointed was  huge understatement.  Not to mention an almost 4 hour trip with no fun destination at the end, just ended up right back where they started.  When we got back to sunny Grand Rapids we packed them up to take them to the pool, and wouldn't you know another huge storm (unpredicted) popped up 15 minutes into our swim time and we had to book it to our cars and get out of there fast, AGAIN!  There were umbrellas blowing all over and people running and screaming.  It was a crazy day of storms.  The silver lining was that the next day was beautiful and the whole family was in favor of giving Traverse City a second shot.  We are sure glad we did.  We had the BEST day with the Cooley's and the Morin's!

Mr. and Mrs. Cooley let us use their jet skiis right on the East Bay.  What a treat!
Courtney taught Evie how to get the pit out of the cherry on her own.  Score!

We even got to pick delicious cherries from Mrs. Cooley's family cherry farm!  I've heard about this farm since I was a kid so it was so special to get to go with them and take my kids!

Sweet Luke helping out Evie.  Thanks friend!
I think Everson ate more than she collected.

Having our kids together makes me so happy.  We love the Morin Family!  The kids only see each other a few times a year but they are the best of the friends.
Jumping off the dock!  Laney mastered her back flip this summer.

This day couldn't have been any better.  Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Cooley for hosting us all day!

Laney made up a new dessert game!  You roll the dice and whatever number you get coincides with a topping to put on your ice cream.  She set the whole thing up herself and it turned out to be pretty fun and super yummy.

This past week was our first week of summer with  no camps, no appointments, and no trips planned.  WHEW!  We hit the John Ball Zoo one of the days.

Carson and Laney both went on the ropes course at the zoo and Carson was able to do the zip line too.  Laney has to gain 10 more pounds to get to zip line and she can't wait.
 Evie's favorite...monkeys!

Hocus Pocus.  I love when she comes up from the basement all dressed up.
Evie is getting better and better at swimming every week!

A beautiful day at Aunt Sarah and Uncle Mike's lake house!

Carson asked Uncle Mike if he would show him his Corvette and of course he was happy to oblige!
"Just Dance" party with the big kids!  Evie can hang.
